These include a skate park, picnic areas, a large commons, entrance plazas with information kiosks, coffee shops and the renovated pavilion, which is a heritage building. The Apies River on the western side of the park will form park of the Nelson Mandela Corridor and will be landscaped to form a pedestrian friendly urban edge that interfaces with the inner city. The southern edge is designed as a wide pedestrian boulevard, which will have art pieces at the main entrances to the park along with a coffee shop and information kiosk. The park will be integrated with proposed adjacent mixed use developments, to its north and will connect to the DTI precinct to its south. The park will become the focus of recreation activities for people living in Arcadia, Trevenna and Sunnyside and is within a 5 to 10 minute walk from these communities. With Metroplan. |
